Three Years of Raenest: A Journey of Growth, Impact & Community

Three years, $1 billion in payments, and a mission to reshape global finance for Africans. This is our journey so far.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Three years ago, Raenest was nothing more than a bold idea, a vision to break down the barriers that kept Africans from fully participating in the global economy. It was a path less threaded by African businesses, and it was a time of uncertainty but also great ambition. The question was never if the solution was needed but how it could be built to truly change lives.

At the start, it was tough. Convincing businesses to trust a new Fintech platform in an industry dominated by legacy traditional banks was an uphill battle. The odds weren’t always in our favour, but we knew that if we could prove our value, if we could make payments faster, affordable, and truly borderless, then we could reshape the future of finance for millions of Africans.

And we did.

We took the only way forward: building trust. Through relentless innovation, customer success stories, and strategic partnerships, we proved we weren’t just another Fintech but one that is truly here to change, refine and improve cross-border payments.

This vision took shape in 2022/2023 with the creation of multi-currency wallets that allowed Africans to send, receive, and manage funds effortlessly. A defining moment for us was seeing freelancers, remote workers, and businesses not just using Raenest but thriving because of it. We watched businesses save 3x on FX costs, freelancers gain financial flexibility, and startups scale beyond borders with ease. Today, Raenest has processed over $1 billion in payments, empowering 700,000+ individuals and 500+ businesses with the financial tools they need to succeed.

But we knew that wasn’t enough. Success is built on continuous growth, and true financial freedom isn’t just about getting paid; it’s about managing, growing, and owning your finances on a global scale. To further build our vision, we secured $11 million in Series A funding, led by QED Investors, Norrsken22, Ventures Platform, P1 Ventures, and Seedstars. This brings our total funding to $14.3 million, which is a major milestone that propels us into the next phase of our mission. With this funding, we are set to:

  • Expand into new markets, deepening our presence in Nigeria and Kenya and launching in the U.S. and Egypt.
  • Enhance our multi-currency wallets, global accounts, and payment processing tools to ensure smoother transactions.
  • Grow our team with top talent committed to providing an even better experience for our users.
  • Build stronger partnerships with global financial institutions, ensuring faster, more secure transactions for African businesses and freelancers.

Our freelancing community and individual users are not left out. The African gig economy is growing at 20% annually, the global cross-border payments market is also projected to reach $320 trillion by 2032, and we want to make sure each and every one of you benefits from this growth. This is where Geegpay by Raenest comes in.

Through Geegpay, we’ve made it easier than ever for freelancers, digital nomads, and remote workers across Africa to access the global economy. We’ve streamlined cross-border payments, ensuring you can receive, manage, and spend your earnings without barriers. Professionals in Africa no longer need to struggle with delayed payments, high conversion fees, or limited financial access. With every milestone, we strengthen our commitment to making global finance more accessible, affordable, and truly borderless. The future is here, and with Geegpay, you’re not just participating, you’re thriving.

But our mission goes beyond just building financial products. We believe that Fintech is not just about transactions; it’s about empowering businesses with the right knowledge and tools to compete on a global scale. This is how we ensure that Africa continues to make its mark in the global Fintech space. Through masterclasses, keynote sessions, and real-world case studies, we showcased how businesses can navigate cross-border financial challenges effectively. Regulatory compliance, security, and financial trust were at the heart of these conversations, proving that financial education is just as important as financial access.

By equipping businesses with the knowledge to make smarter financial decisions, we’re not just offering a product; we’re shaping the future of Fintech in Africa. Because for Africa to thrive, we must continue learning, sharing, and innovating together.

What’s Next for Raenest?

The journey ahead is even more exciting. In the coming years, we are committed to not just building a Fintech company but also building the financial infrastructure of the future. And none of this would have been possible without YOU, our users, investors, team, and partners who have believed in our mission from day one. You’ve trusted us to build solutions that empower you financially, and we are committed to delivering even more.

To the businesses that have grown with us, the professionals who now get paid with ease, and the entire Raenest community, we say thank you. This journey is yours as much as it is ours. The future is bright, and we can’t wait to show you what’s next.
